Generally, there are three (3) major types of Archimedean screw pump; Concrete type, Semi- Compact Type and Compact Type respectively. In concrete type Archimedean screw pump, the installation of screw body is independent from the pump drive unit, and only connected through drive shaft. The trough of this pump is constructed by means concrete screeding until the correct trough profile has been achieved. On the other hand, in semi-compact type Archimedean screw pump, the trough is fabricated in steel and pre-assembled with screw body and connected to independent drive installation on-site. While in compact type Archimedean screw pump, screw body, trough and drive unit of the pump is preassembled in one unit and all the parts is not independent. In selecting the suitable type of Archimedean screw pump for a particular pumping application, often, size and cost are its determining factor. However, to date, there are no proper comparison are conducted to assist the selection of suitable type of Archimedean screw pump at specific capacity and head. Thus, this paper intended to analyses the economic performance of concrete type, semi- compact type and compact type Archimedean screw pump. The economic performance of each type of pump will be compared at various pumping capacity and head respectively.
